Baaaa...

I really admire people who don't follow the herd. It makes my skin crawl to witness the societal need to conform to what(ever) industry manifests as what is to be considered cool. Few people are willing to confront these injustices, but instead join the herd of sheep because it's more comfortable and less mess.

Cori Schumacher is one of those people who is willing to question the intentions and actions of the status quo. What I find so unique about her is how successful she has been in this game we call "professional women's longboarding" without compromising her ideals. In fact, Cori's conviction encourages her to act, without fear of judgment.

Here is a recent example of her courage where she's speaks aloud, what most of are thinking...

I Just Don't Blog 'Cuz I'm Too Busy Doing Other Things...

Having a hard time with this whole blog thing. I've got heaps on my mind and plenty of other kettles in the fire, but I really don't have the time nor the patience to sit down and write about it.

On that note...

Went sailing with my pops this weekend. As novices, we haven't gone out too far yet. Yesterday, however, we got out to the Gina buoy in about an hour. Papa Charlie had us flying, keeling the boat quite a bit. It was a blast! The moderate winds and bright sun made for super clear skies allowing us to see Santa Rosa and Anacapa Islands with a crisp clarity. I can't wait to sail out there one day!

The Left Lane is for PASSING

That's why it's also called the FAST LANE.

It ceases to amaze me at how many people just drive where ever they want without any regard or awareness of the other drivers sharing the road with 'em. My daily drive along the 101 and into Malibu Cyn. makes me wanna pull each and every one of my hairs out one-at-a-time... and I have a lot of freakin' hair.

I've decided that the majority of drivers found their licenses as prizes in Cracker Jacks boxes because most of 'em have completely lost the skill of looking in their rearview mirrors. People despise tailgaters, but I hate people who cruise in the passing lane or those who refuse to use turnouts. Time and time again I find myself behind some douche bag going through the canyon with the death grip on their wheel crawling along as if every turn might throw 'em off the side and send 'em rolling to their doom.

Interestingly enough, someone actually had the time on their hands to put a web page together about this very subject.

It all comes down to milliseconds and gridlock...

Aquarian to the Core

I've always been a bit of a non-conformist... apparently it's in my stars or something, so whenever a fad comes into style, I'm usually the last to follow it (if at all). The most recent fashion craze is this so-called "hipster" generation... It seems everybody is doing, but I just don't get it...?

Why are people such freakin' sheep? I've never understood why masses of people mimic one another so that they all look alike. Personally, I like being different and that's not to say that I need to wear avant garde clothing or make viral videos or wear an asymmetrical hairstyle to do so. I just go through life being me. I like what I like, I hate what I hate and it really has nothing to do with what the status quo is doing at the moment.

The problem with this method is that the status quo (within all industries) controls what the mainstream public is presented with and since I refuse to conform, I am virtually ignored... I know, woe is me... Not to worry, that can of worms will be delved into soon enough!

So, basically dickheads get all the luck. I still don't wanna be a dickhead!

Opening Pandora's Box

I know I'm setting myself up for receiving grief, but I'm hoping the benefits will far outweigh the means. My intention is to vent. You may like what I have to say, you may think I'm totally wacko... In reality, that's all ok, 'cuz at least I got you thinking! Comments are welcomed; however, being that this is MY blog, if I don't like what you have to say, don't be surprised if I simply delete your remarks. No, this is not a democracy. It's MY blog and I'll do as I wish.

My words of wisdom will come shortly. 'Til then I'll leave with this...

"If you shut up truth and bury it under the ground, it will but grow, and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through it will blow up everything in its way." ~Emile Zola
